Terrain

While I have terrain for Middle Eastern/North Africa in place, I am not sure if it will work for South West Africa, but it will have to do.  I have a few options for base terrain, either use my desert tiles from The Terrain Guy (sadly no longer in business) or I can use a green felt cloth from Monday Knight Productions.  For buildings I have several of the Deimos Design Studio hand-made offerings (again, sadly they are no longer in business), along with some shanties (custom built by David Glenn in a trade for figures).  I have a variety of desert-type rock outcroppings as well.  Pretty sure the shanties wouldn't work based on the tin roofs though.

I'll have to pull out all the terrain I have and snap some pictures.  In the meantime here are some pics that show the Deimos buildings, the shanties, and The Terrain Guy base tiles.

  1. The shanties could work, but the other buildings really are nothing like the German colonial structures, including forts and outposts, of southwest Africa. On the other hand, there are only a couple of historical engagements where buildings would come into play (Battle of Omaruru, Siege of Namutoni,my own Armnored Train Scenario for Osona. Herero "Pontoks" could be approximated by sculpting over beehive shaped zulu huts. As for mats, the more thorn scrub, the better for DSWA.

    1. Thanks, Tim. I'll stick with the shanties as needed and drop the other buildings. I'll have to do some searching on pontoks!
